If you are looking to switch from an unsustainable lifestyle to a lifestyle that is, both, people and planet friendly, here’s the perfect community for you

Since 2007, Journeys With Meaning has brought the ideas and practices of sustainability to people, using ethical travel as its primary medium of transformation. On our trips, we’ve seen how these powerful experiences of living sustainably, change the way people interact with their everyday issues. We also introduce our participants to amazing innovators working on innovations in farming, energy, education, architecture, and economic models.

However, despite the inspiration our participants find on our earth-friendly journeys, the unavoidable ‘busy’ness of urban life dilutes this energy. Work, education, family, personal interests, and other commitments demand attention. Time and money are also occasional barriers when experimenting with sustainable living. And sometimes, there’s no one around who would understand our new desire to transform the way we live.

These are legitimate barriers. But we cannot let these stop us from switching to an earth-friendly lifestyle.

THE PLAYGROUND – Hacking Sustainable Living

is our newest offering. It is designed as a monthly event comprising two parts.

Duration: 2 to 3 days

In 2018, we are featuring workshops on Woodworking, Kitchen Gardening, Pottery, Repair Cafe`, Paper-making, Bookbinding, Earth-building, Recycling & Upcycling, and more.

Each of these workshops will be a deep dive into one area of sustainable living, taught by expert practitioners with years of experience. With the basics in place, participants can go on to experiment further on their own or form small locality specific groups with like-minded people.

These will be paid workshops to cover venue and material costs and to offer an honorarium to the faculty.

Duration: 3 hours

This will be a free open-space at the end of each workshop. Here, people are welcome to join in for free.

In these 3-hour long open-space meet-ups, there will be different experiences on offer each month — film-screenings, talks by inspiring innovators, interactive games, idea-exchanges/ marketplace, meet-ups to find potential partners and volunteers for your initiatives, and quick DIY sessions.

We will also have exciting sessions where you can learn the key mental skills required to make the shift to a sustainable lifestyle.

THE PLAYGROUND also has an online community where you can exchange ideas, find like-minded
people, and find your tribe.
